The Maker Movement is alive and well in the world of Dayton, OH manufacturing. If you haven’t heard of this movement, it brings together all kinds of innovators for collaboration and problem-solving. According to Maker Media:
The launch of Make:magazine in 2005, followed by Maker Faire in 2006, jumpstarted a worldwide Maker Movement, which is transforming innovation, culture and education.
Dayton Makers
Make It Dayton! is a maker community that holds meetings throughout the year. They also hosted very successful maker events this spring and summer. And there are even more local opportunities for makers this fall:
1) Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Maker Hub
Thursdays 10:30 – 1:30, Wright Brothers Institute

2) Flyways to Highways: How Advanced Composites and High Performance Materials Will Get You Where You’re Going
November 1-2, University of Dayton Research Institute

3) XTREME Bots Competition
November 5, Wright State’s Nutter Center
Student robotics teams share their work in this all day event. Ohio Robotics Incorporated sponsors the high-action competition, where “prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places along with special awards including Best Documentation, Best Engineered Robot, Best Sportsmanship, and People’s Choice.”
